GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — Grandville Public Schools will be closed Thursday after receiving word about an alleged threat, the district wrote in a letter to parents.

The tip came from OK2SAY , a tipline program run by Michigan State Police where anyone can confidentially report threats, violent behavior and mental health crises involving students, school employees or schools.

OK2SAY saw 31% increase in reporting in 2023

“We will not be able to conduct a thorough enough investigation by tomorrow morning.  So, out of an abundance of caution, Grandville Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, September 19 including Preschool and Treehouse programs,” Grandville Superintendent Roger Bearup wrote in a letter to families.

All evening activities, including home events, practices and extracurriculars, will also be canceled for Thursday night, the district announced Thursday morning. Away games will continue as planned.

“We will communicate later today regarding school tomorrow,” the district told families Thursday morning.

OK2SAY is available 24/7 and tips can be submitted in the following ways:
