Florida-Based Publix Once Again Recognised As One Of Top Places To Work In Retail

I often write articles about grocers, which means I've written many articles about Publix over the years. Many times, readers will comment that either they or a family member works for Publix. Sometimes, they will compliment the work environment and benefits. And it turns out that a national publication agrees with the sentiment that Publix is a good place to work because once again Fortune has put Publix on a list of the top retailers to work for.

About The Fortune List And What It Measured: Fortune's 2024 best large workplaces for retail include retailers from many different sectors, not just grocers.

The list was based on employee feedback from 123,000 employees who were surveyed through Great Place to Work, which explored metrics like employee loyalty, connection to colleagues, and trust in management.

Where Did Publix Rank?: Publix came in fifth place, behind Wegmans Food Markets at number one, Sheez at number two, and Target at number three. (Walmart ranked seventh.) Publix has appeared on this list for eleven years in a row.

What Publix Offers: According to Florida based-Publix's website, it is committed to investing in its employees' "financial, physical, mental and emotional health." To that end, it provides its associates with the ability to become company owners through its PROFIT and employee stock purchase plans.

Employee Feedback: Publix employees give the company 3.9 out of 5 stars on Indeed. Some said it was a good place for young people to start out and a fun place to work. But some lamented the difficulty in becoming full-time.
