MONTICELLO — Monticello High School crowned its new court of Homecoming royalty during a pep fest last Friday at the school, on the final day of Homecoming Week, amid a spirited sea of red-and-black clad students and faculty.

Seniors Eddie Kennedy and Summer Derby were chosen as the 2024 Monticello High School Homecoming King and Queen.

The other members of the school’s Homecoming Court this year are Olivia Dunn, Wilhelmina Scharmer, Paulina Witschen and Molly Hegle, for the girls; along with Brock Holthaus, Tyler Grue, Alvin Bropleh and Luke Emmerich, on the boys’ side.

In addition to a celebration during the pep rally, royals also paraded around the city’s elementary and middle school buildings, complete with the marching band performing in the halls.

Later on, Homecoming royals were also recognized during halftime of Friday night’s football game against Sauk Rapids-Rice, when the Monticello Magic emerged victorious in a stunning 29-0 win.
