Milaca High School (MHS) recently announced a group of nine alumni to be inducted into its Milaca Hall of Fame.

While the induction ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Oct. 12, the Union-Times plans to introduce each inductee to the community through a series of articles leading up to the ceremony.

Each article will contain two candidates, with the last article containing three, and they will inform the community about the candidate and why they were selected for the Milaca Hall of Fame through their accomplishments. The candidates will be introduced in alphabetical order by first name.

The third and fourth candidates to be featured are Jacob Vos and Jill (Hubers) Haspert.

    Jacob Vos

Vos graduated from MHS in the Class of 2002. High school honors include state storytelling champion in 2002, yearbook senior editor, and honors in drama, speech and mock trial. Vos also self-published a novel at 18 years old.

He attended St. John’s University and graduated in the Class of 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in English and a communication minor. In college, Vos received All College Honors and a distinction in English.

He then attended the University of Notre Dame Law School, JD, 2009. He graduated cum laude and earned Dean’s List recognition. He continued his writing career as an articles editor for the Notre Dame Journal of Law, Ethics, and Public Policy.

Vos’ love for the outdoors and time with family brought his career to the Colorado mountains. He first served as a law clerk to the honorable Dennis Graham on the Colorado Court of Appeals. He then served as a deputy district attorney in Arapahoe County, Colorado.

He entered private practice as an associate with Taylor Anderson LLP, and then returned to government work as an assistant regulation counsel with the Colorado Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel.

Vos’ legal experience has spanned everything from criminal prosecutions, to defending the Aurora, Colo., movie theater in civil suits arising out of the 2012 mass shooting there, to prosecuting ethics cases against attorneys. His recent ethics cases have involved those against elected district attorneys and a member of former President Donald Trump’s legal team.

Vos has spent time volunteering as a mock trial coach, a mentor in the Colorado Attorney Mentoring Program and as a director for the Colorado River Surfing Association.

Vos currently lives in Colorado with his wife and daughters. When he’s not practicing law, he can often be found rafting or skiing somewhere in the high mountains.

    Jill (Hubers) Haspert

Haspert is a 2000 MHS graduate. While in high school, Haspert was a member of the National Honor Society, swing choir, volleyball, basketball, track and field and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

She attended Gustavus Adolphus College where she earned a master of arts degree in financial economics in 2004. Haspert also attended the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management.

After college, Haspert spent two years at Ameriprise Financial in Minneapolis in their finance trainee program, from 2004-06. In this role, she worked across many different areas of finance and accounting, including mutual fund accounting, brokerage finance and internal audit.

In 2006, she joined the internal audit function at General Mills working as part of the audit teams, visiting manufacturing plants around the world. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with an MBA degree in 2011 and re-joined General Mills in a business management and P&L leadership role, leading marketing and innovation teams for iconic brands such as Pillsbury cookies, Old El Paso Mexican products and Progresso soup.

Haspert joined Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures in 2017 as CEO of a branded merchandise agency they had purchased in 2014. In this role, she was able to modernize the agency and build a foundation for the future by implementing new technology and apparel decoration equipment, moving the business to a new facility, and rebranding the company to Foxtrot Marketing Group in 2021.

In 2023, Haspert purchased the business from Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures and is the sole owner. She is proud to be a certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) and employs more than 40 people at headquarters in New Brighton. Foxtrot specializes in building and hosting e-commerce branded merchandise stores and uniform programs for clients, who are primarily mid-size or larger firms in the manufacturing, healthcare, automotive or financial services sectors.

    Haspert’s accomplishments include:

Haspert has volunteered her time as a Sunday school teacher at Eagle Brook Church in Blaine; a Girl Scout troop leader; a National Association of Women MBAs, past president; Bolder Options Finance Committee, past member; and has served as Tickets for Kids Board treasurer, past member.

Haspert lives in North Oaks with her husband Patrick, and daughters Anna and Lauren. Outside of work, she enjoys golfing, reading and spending time with family and friends.

Vos and Haspert will be inducted into the Milaca Hall of Fame on Saturday, Oct. 12, alongside seven other inductees.

The induction ceremony will begin with a social hour at 10 a.m., followed by a brunch at 10:30 a.m., and the ceremony will begin at 11:15 a.m. Each inductee will speak about their accomplishments during the ceremony.

Information about the remaining five inductees will be included in the Union-Times in the coming weeks leading up to the induction ceremony.
