With more than 1.3M migrants legally coming into the United States through the CBP One app and parole programs—programs that critics refer to as a ‘shadow immigration system’—U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is left to manage a whopping eight million cases, with every officer dealing with around 7,000 cases, which makes effective enforcement almost impossible and leaves the United States’ immigration system on the verge of collapsing.

Harris, who was appointed as the “border czar,” has been in charge of immigration policies that opened up the floodgates, with more than 530,000 migrants from Venezuela, Nicaragua, Haiti, and Cuba entering America legally underneath these controversial parole programs. Critics state these migrants, offered parole for 2 years, will probably never leave, which leads to long-term residence without the right enforcement or oversight. Also, the migrants are qualified to apply for work authorization, which further complicates efforts at enforcement.

An additional 813,000 migrants scheduled appointments through the use of the CBP One app, getting around illegal border crossings. Critics say those “lawful pathways” make a way for a shadow immigration system, which hides the real scale of the crisis and overwhelms America’s immigration system. Such numbers, which don’t count in Border Patrol stats, obscure the reality of this situation even more. Kamala’s border policies have completely failed, which leaves enforcement agencies ill-equipped and overburdened to address the exploding crisis.

U.S. Overwhelmed By CHNV Parole Program

Initially meant for migration from crisis-ridden regions, the CHNV parole program has overburdened U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Under Harris’s leadership, they’re expected to deal with more than eight million cases by December of 2024, with every officer handling about 7,000 cases—which makes efficient enforcement impossible. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers are already responsible for removing and locating aggravated felons, “gotaways,” and the ones who have final deportation orders. They’re now faced with an even greater responsibility with parolees overstaying their welcome, putting more strain on resources.

There is a Lack of Parolee Monitoring

Even worse, data from the DHS (Department of Homeland Security) Inspector General reveals that no government agency keeps track of the expiration of the parole grants, which creates a harmful loophole that is set to enable a multitude of migrants to unlawfully remain in America. That lack of oversight, under Harris’s watch, virtually guarantees that migrants who fall out of legal status are going to stay in the U.S. without any action by enforcement agencies. Every source with ICE confirmed that they don’t have the resources or manpower to deport and locate such a huge population of migrants if they remain beyond their expected stay with these 2-year parole grants. Without any solution to that systemic gap, this situation will only grow worse.

Harris’s Disguised ‘Open Borders’ Policy

Despite such shocking numbers, CBP officials, which includes Troy Miller (Acting Commissioner), continuously touts border security improvements. They claim a 68 percent decline in illegal encounters alongside the southwest border in August of 2024, as compared with the prior year. But critics state the administration is just shifting the migrants from illegal crossings over to “legal” entries through the CBP One app and parole programs.

These programs, while framed as a lawful alternative, worsen the situation and obscure the reality of the border crisis. In exploiting those “legal pathways,” Harris’s oversight is now rebranding an uncontrolled crisis as a success, all while leaving law enforcement in chaos.

What is the CBP One App?

Utilized by 813,000 migrants, the CBP One app enables them to legally get into the United States, bypassing all of the risks associated with illegal crossings. Even though the Harris administration packages it as a “humane and safe” solution, critics refer to it as a “backdoor” into America, opening without proper enforcement or vetting. The CBP One app is pretty much a fast pass for migrants, enabling them to flood America without any accountability, which complicates the border crisis even more.

The CBP One app allows the Harris administration to avoid counting the migrants in regular border statistics, concealing the real scope of this crisis. In doing that, Biden and Harris’s team constructed a loophole-laden system, which makes America vulnerable to a countless number of unaccounted-for migrants.

How Does This Affect Local Communities?

The consequences of Harris’s policies aren’t limited to towns on the border but are already making their way to local neighborhoods. Public services such as housing, education, and healthcare are now being stretched beyond their limit, and fierce competition in the job market is now intensifying. This unchecked migration is making it difficult for U.S. citizens to have access to essential services, all while creating economic strain and social tension.

Border Policy Will Inevitably Fail

Under this administration’s parole programs, the more than one million migrants permitted into America aren’t likely to leave the country, even if they run out of legal status. People in America are being misled. Harris’s policies are transforming the United States immigration system into a chaotic, unmonitored process, leaving communities vulnerable and law enforcement powerless.

Without a major change or reversal of Harris’s lenient, dangerous policies, the United States immigration system will eventually buckle under the pressure of unmonitored migration, and U.S. citizens will continuously pay the price.
