    The Chattanooga City Council officially confirmed the appointment of a new Chief of Police, marking a significant leadership transition for the department

    Chattanooga, TN – According to the police officials, with a distinguished law enforcement career that began in 1995, the new chief, John Chambers, has excelled in various roles, including Street Crimes Investigator, SWAT Team Commander, and Lieutenant of Technology.

    Most recently, he served as Assistant Chief, overseeing both the Neighborhood Policing and Community & Development Bureaus.

    His exceptional leadership earned him recognition as both Manager of the Year and Leader of the Year. In a statement, the new chief expressed his excitement about stepping into this role, emphasizing his commitment to serving the community.

    He highlighted the department’s focus on progressive law enforcement strategies to combat crime and improve public safety.

    A graduate summa cum laude in Emergency Services Management from Bethel University, the new chief is also an alum of the Southeastern Leadership Academy and the FBI National Academy (Session #269). Prior to his law enforcement career, he served as a Legal Specialist in the Army National Guard, experiences that have shaped his disciplined approach and decision-making skills.

    The appointment is expected to bring a fresh perspective and renewed focus on community engagement and safety initiatives throughout Chattanooga.
