    Man sentenced to life in prison for 2019 murder of Charlotte man: District Attorney

    CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A Charlotte man has been sentenced to life in prison for murder during an attempted robbery in 2019, according to Mecklenburg County’s District Attorney’s Office.

    Travonte House, 32, is sentenced to life in prison without parole for first-degree murder. He will serve a concurrent sentence of 19-32 months for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

    Derrick Chambers, 31, was shot and killed on April 6, 2019, in the 7200 block of Barrington Drive.

    House’s trial began on Sept. 9 and ended on Sept. 18 with a guilty verdict.

    Officials said two co-defendants, Diyondre Wilson and Keniya Guyton, were previously convicted in connection with the crimes. Charges against a third co-defendant, Malik Benson, remain pending.
