TUCSON — The City of Tucson announced today that, in partnership with Pima County, it is accepting public comments on the draft application for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing (PRO Housing) funding.

According to HUD, the PRO Housing funding supports efforts to remove barriers to the production and preservation of affordable housing in local communities, increasing affordable housing opportunities by targeting areas of opportunity and improving the development process.

Grantees can use the funding to advance, assess, and implement housing policy initiatives, enhance housing strategies, and support the production and preservation of affordable housing, according to HUD.

The draft application will be available for public review starting September 27, 2024, on the City of Tucson’s website.

A public hearing, jointly hosted by the City of Tucson and Pima County, will take place on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 6:00 PM at the Sentinel Building, 320 N Commerce Park Loop, in Tucson. Community members are encouraged to attend and provide feedback.

Public comments will be accepted from Friday, September 27, until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2024.

Additionally, comments can be submitted via email to HCDComment@tucsonaz.gov, faxed to (520) 791-5407, or delivered in person or by mail to the Tucson Housing and Community Development Department.

For accommodations such as accessible formats, language interpreters, or materials in languages other than English, contact the Tucson Housing and Community Development Department at least five business days in advance at (520) 837-5447 or (520) 791-2639 for TDD.
