Despite not yet throwing his first NFL touchdown, Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has been as good as advertised through two weeks of the NFL season. Commanders coach Dan Quinn has been complimentary of Daniels’ work ethic and leadership since training camps began.

On Wednesday, Quinn was a guest on the Rich Eisen Show and was asked about Daniels, and the final two drives of the game to lead Washington over the New York Giants.

“The thing about him that is remarkable so far, the word that comes to mind is ‘poise,’ expressed Quinn. “In those moments, Jayden is really rock solid.”

Daniels took five sacks in this game and overcame them all to lead his team into scoring position on every single offensive drive of the game.

“He really puts in the work, which I think gives him a lot of the confidence, and the other players definitely feel that from him,” Quinn continued. “As he’s growing, the team is as well…Now that we are in the games, you see a calm, cool, collected guy that stays razor-focused.”

During Sunday’s game, Daniels was hit hard by two Giants defenders and eventually came out of the game. Although he returned to the field two plays later, Eisen wanted to know how much Quinn talks to Daniels about sliding when he scrambles.

“We are a work in progress on that part, Rich,” replied Quinn. “It is a physical league. We want to make sure of the smart decisions: When to get down, when to get out of bounds.”

Daniels has often said this is just football and he plays how he plays. Maybe after taking that type of shot to the ribs, he will think twice about not sliding moving forward.

The Commanders and the Bengals square off Monday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET.
