The Least Used Amtrak Station In South Carolina As Of 2023

FLORENCE, SC - Amtrak served over 155,000 passengers in South Carolina during fiscal year 2023, operating eight trains daily across four long-distance routes.

According to Amtrak, these routes, including the Crescent, Palmetto, Silver Meteor, and Silver Star, connect South Carolina to major cities like New York, Washington, Atlanta, and Miami.

Charleston (CHS) was the busiest station in the state, with 52,675 passengers, followed by Florence (FLO) with 34,165 and Columbia (CLB) with 25,328 riders, according to Amtrak.

These stations are key hubs for both locals and long-distance travelers, offering important rail connections to the eastern U.S.

However, Denmark (DNK) was the least used station in the state, with only 2,681 passengers throughout the year, according to Amtrak.

Despite its lower ridership, the station continues to provide vital access for the small community it serves.

Amtrak's service in South Carolina remains a crucial transportation link, though on-time performance is a challenge due to the reliance on host railroads, which often prioritize freight traffic over passenger trains.
