PHOENIX - In addition to the closures of westbound I-10 and southbound SR 143, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) announced today weekend closures for northbound SR 51, northbound I-17, and westbound Loop 202.

These closures, set to begin Friday, Sept. 20, and continue through Monday, Sept. 23, are part of ongoing projects to improve traffic flow and enhance safety.

Northbound SR 51 Closure: Northbound State Route 51 will be closed between the I-10/Loop 202 "Mini-Stack" interchange and Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) starting at 9 p.m. Friday until 9 p.m. Saturday.

The closure will allow crews to perform pavement sealing. Drivers are encouraged to use I-17 as an alternate route, with sections of SR 51 reopening as work progresses throughout Saturday.

I-17 Lane Reductions: Northbound I-17 will be reduced to a single lane between Loop 303 and State Route 74 (Carefree Highway) from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for pavement improvements.

The I-17 ramps at Dove Valley Road will also be closed. ADOT advises drivers to allow extra time or consider traveling during non-peak hours when traffic is lighter.

Westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) Closure: Westbound Loop 202 will be closed between Arizona Avenue and Loop 101 from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday as part of a widening project.

In addition to the main closure, on-ramps at Gilbert, Cooper, and McQueen roads will be shut down, along with the southbound Loop 101 HOV ramp to eastbound Loop 202.

Drivers should seek alternate routes, such as Germann or Pecos roads, during the closure, according to ADOT.
