    James Baldwin Featured At March On Festival

    The March On Festival will open with a tribute to the words and works of James Baldwin, a prolific author and activist. The program James Baldwin: Born With the Thunder will be presented on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the National Archives, 701 Constitution Avenue NW, Washington, D.C.

    There will be a screening of the documentary, James Baldwin: The Price of the Ticket. It features interviews with Maya Angelou, Amiri Baraka, and Baldwin himself. Panelists will discuss Baldwin's legacy and impact over the years and the present time. A tap dance set to Baldwin's words will be performed.

    The Welcome will be given by Monica Woods, National Archives Chief of Staff. the Moderator is Anthony Coley, political analyst and contributor, NBC News, MSNBC, and CNBC. Panelists are: Karen Thorsen, filmmaker; Dr. Frank Leon Roberts, Associate Professor, English and Black Studies, Amherst University; and Cree Myles, Influencer and curator/host of Penguin Random House’s podcast, All Ways Black.

    The March on Washington Film Festival uses the power of the arts to find and bring to life the stories from the Civil Rights Movement. This is an annual Civil Rights Legacy Project.
