Each week the Clarion Ledger highlights the achievements of outstanding local high school students. Out of five nominees, there can only be one Jackson Metro Student of the Week.

    The votes are in.

With just over 51% of the votes, Nadia Davis of Jackson-Tougaloo Early College High School is the Clarion Ledger's Jackson Metro Student of the Week for Sept. 15-21.

Davis is a ninth-grade student in the Jackson-Tougaloo Early College High School program. She is known as a hard-working, caring, ambitious student. Her lowest grade during midterms was a 97.

Davis has a heart to help, and she isn't embarrassed to stand for what is right, even if it is not popular with her peers. Her goal is to be an OBGYN and professional ballerina.
