    Thursday's prep highlights: Juarez, Phillips, Avelar record hat tricks

    In volleyball

    Armstrong-Potomac 2, Milford 0. Carly Grant had eight assists, seven aces and four kills, Isabel Bullington had nine digs and six kills and Riley Parkerson had seven assists to lift the Trojans (8-9-1) past the Bearcats (1-8) in a 25-16, 25-12 Vermilion Valley Conference decision on their home floor.

    Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond 2, Cerro Gordo/Bement 0. Savannah Butcher slammed 12 kills, Summer Melton added five kills and Alayna Plank accrued 20 assists to help the host Knights (9-4) put away the Broncos (3-16-1) in a 25-11, 25-14 Lincoln Prairie Conference decision.

    Cissna Park 2, Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin 0. Addison Lucht and Sophie Duis combined for 15 kills while Ella Schluter had 14 assists to key a 25-15, 25-22 win for the Timberwolves (10-1) over the host Blue Devils (6-3). Reis McFarland tallied six kills, Mallory Brines assisted on nine points and Macy Danner collected 13 digs to help the Blue Devils.

    Champaign Central 2, Urbana 0. Lizzy Lange had a block and Janasia Dillon served two aces for the host Tigers (4-3) as they fell to the Maroons (9-8) in a 25-22, 25-13 Big 12 decision.

    LeRoy 2, Fisher 0. Six digs from Emily Landers , three blocks from Maylie Evans and two kills from Paige Hott weren't enough to help the Bunnies (4-9) escape a 25-8, 25-17 loss to the Panthers (13-2) in a Heart of Illinois Conference match.

    Mahomet-Seymour 2, Rantoul 0 . Airiana Bell had eight digs and five aces for the host Eagles (7-6), with Joselyn Espinoza adding six digs and Josie Roseman adding five digs in a 25-16, 25-11 loss to the Bulldogs (13-2) in nonconference play.

    Shelbyville 2, Tuscola 1. Five kills from Lilly Kurtz and 11 assists from Ava Raguth led the host Warriors (4-9) in a 25-23, 24-26, 12-25 loss to the Rams in Central Illinois Conference play.

    Watseka 2, Oakwood 0. Fifteen digs from Ella Smith , 10 digs from Noelle Schroeder and seven kills from Lauren Tegtmeyer helped the Warriors (10-5) dispatch the host Comets (2-7) in a 25-10, 25-16 VVC decision. Kendyl Rogers had eight digs for the Comets while Quinn Sperry chipped in six digs and four assists.

    In boys' soccer

    Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin 7, Iroquois West 2. Irving Jesus Paramo Juarez scored three goals, Bryson Lithgow scored twice and Noah Rice and Jadyn Peters added additional goals to help the Blue Devils (6-4-1) gain a road win over the Raiders (3-9) in VVC play. Mario Andrade scored twice for the Raiders, who received seven saves from Jose Vega.

    Centennial 2, Peoria Richwoods 1. Goals from Isaac Ramos and Nemo McKissick and eight saves from Nathan Piercy helped the Chargers (5-5-2) to a road win in Big 12 play.

    Judah Christian 2, Argenta-Oreana 1. Thomas Stroud scored a pair of goals and Braydon Mora tallied 12 saves to lift the host Tribe (4-5-1) past the Bombers (1-7) in a nonconference contest.

    Normal Community 3, Champaign Central 0. The host Ironmen dispatched the Maroons (3-6-1) thanks to a pair of goals in the second half of a Big 12 contest.

    Unity 3, Monticello 2. A pair of second half goals helped the Rockets secure a road win over the Sages in Illini Prairie Conference play, with Brock Schlittler scoring in the first half and Teaguen Williams and Caden McCaskill handling the rest. Josh Dill and Sully Beccue found the back of the net for the Sages, with Dallas Glauner adding five saves.

    Oakwood/Salt Fork 7, Schlarman 0. Macen Phillips notched a hat trick, Ethan Merritt scored twice and Pedro Rangel IV added a goal to help Oakwood/Salt Fork (12-2) earn their seventh VVC win of the season their home field. O/SF also took advantage of an own goal from Schlarman (0-7).

    Uni High 3, Warrensburg-Latham/Maroa-Forsyth 0. The Illineks (10-2) cruised to a nonconference home win thanks to two goals from Shabi Pasanth and a goal from Frank Hechler , with Muhammad Iftikhar adding five saves to help the winning cause.

    Watseka/Milford 8, Hoopeston Area 0. Owen Avelar 's hat trick combined with two goals apiece from Narciso Solorzano and Jose Tobar and a score from David Bell to help the Warriors (8-2) down the Cornjerkers (4-10) in a VVC contest.

    In boys' golf

    At Danville. Cruz Dubois ' score of 41 led Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin (180) past Watseka (206) at Turtle Run Golf Course, with Nathan Fox (44), Tyson Smith (48) and Mason Brines (48) chipping into the winning cause. Mason Galyen (44) paced the Warriors' output.

    At LeRoy. Strong rounds from Brycen Umstattd (36), Jordan Cox (37), Tate Harden (40) and Sam Edmundson (44) helped LeRoy (157) dispatch Heyworth (175) in a nine-hole meet at LeRoy Country Club.

    At Rantoul. Mahomet-Seymour's collective 158 edged Rantoul/Paxton-Buckley-Loda (160) and St. Thomas More (181) at Willow Pond Golf Course, with Jacob Schoudel (37), Carter Henrikson (40), Kelton Hennesy (40) and Cole Thrasher (41) chipping into the winning cause. Eli Donaldson (38) led the Eagles and Wyatt Kirby (44) and Jackson Little (44) leading the Sabers.

    In boys' cross-country

    At Urbana. Host Uni High topped Urbana, Danville, Heritage, Villa Grove, Paxton-Buckley-Loda, La Salette and Centennial, respectivley, at the University of Illinois Arboretum, with Ross Kimme (16:35), Luke Fahnestock (16:39), Kai Schwartz (16:53), Pieter Duursma (17:09) and Bruce Tang (17:11) rounding out the top five for the Illineks. Villa Grove's Kurt Zimmerman (17:17) placed sixth and Urbana's Mohammed Amrani (17:29) placed seventh.

    In girls' cross-country

    At Urbana. Uni High (22) out-dueled Urbana (39) at the University of Illinois Arboretum, with Urbana's Marley Yau (20:28) topping the individual leaderboard and Uni's Clara Knutson (21:12) clocking in third. Fisher's Ellie Emberson (20:47) placed second, Schlarman's Jocelyn Wear (22:39) placed sixth and Paxton-Buckley-Loda's Maddison DeOrnellas (22:51) placed seventh.
