Dallas pastor removed over 'inappropriate relationship' with woman, church announces

Dallas pastor Steven L. Lawson of the Trinity Bible Church was removed from his position this week effective immediately, the church announced on its website .

After being informed that Lawson had an " inappropriate relationship , Trinity Bible Church said they approached Lawson with this information.

"Several days ago, the elders at Trinity Bible Church of Dallas were informed by Steve Lawson of an inappropriate relationship that he has had with a woman," the church said in a statement. "The elders have met with Steve and will continue to come alongside him and pray for him with the ultimate goal of his personal repentance. Steve will no longer be compensated by Trinity Bible Church of Dallas."

The church did not detail the nature of the relationship or identify the woman.

Who is Steven L. Lawson?

According to his profile on OnePassion Ministries, where he serves as president and founder, Lawson, 73, spent over 40 years as a pastor in Arkansas and Alabama before becoming the lead preacher at Trinity Bible Church in Dallas.

Lawson graduated from Texas Tech University and holds a Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary, as well as a Doctor of Ministry from Reformed Theological Seminary. According to his OnePassion profile, he has authored 33 books and preached in over 14 countries.

Lawson is married with three sons and a daughter.
