Over the past few years, Netflix has announced several anime series that cater to the gaming and anime audience. Last year Netflix revealed that they had a Devil May Cry anime in the works at Netflix Geeked Week, and Castlevania: Nocturne’s first season launched to a good reception (with a season two being confirmed as well). The Netflix anime adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077 , Cyberpunk Edgerunners was so well received that the series won the best adaptation at The Game Awards adding to the Netflix anime prestige.

This Netflix Geeked Week, Netflix continued to roll out exciting anime announcements by giving fans a better look at the upcoming Devil May Cry series, a new Splinter Cell animated series, an animated Magic: The Gatheri ng series and another Cyberpunk 2077-based anime to bring fans back to Night City.

Netflix Geeked Week reminded fans of Magic: The Gathering everywhere that the animated series is still in the works from showrunner Terry Matalas, in partnership with Hasbro Entertainment and Wizards of the Coast. Netflix has also revealed Oscar-winner Patrick Osborne is serving as supervising director and executive producer. The series appears to step in a different direction, as the Planeswalkers Ajani and Nahiri can be seen adorning the small teaser image Netflix revealed this week.

Matalas told Netflix “Those new to this sprawling saga will learn what millions of fans who play every day already know. Magic is the ultimate storytelling sandbox, brimming with iconic, complex characters, extraordinary mind-bending powers, and portals to every genre imaginable. It is also a powerful reminder that no matter what culture, country, or plane of existence you come from, we can all unite and become heroes together.” Aside from these exciting new details and teaser image everything is still under wraps.

    Splinter Cell: Death Watch

Four years ago a Splinter Cell animated series was announced, and three years ago at the first Netflix Geekend Week, a teaser image was revealed for Sam Fisher. This week, three years later, Netflix has shared a teaser trailer for the upcoming Splinter Cell: Death Watch animated series. The trailer has revealed Liev Schreiber as the voice of Sam Fisher and shows the character still thrives in the dark. Outside of the animation design and the character reveal Netflix is still remaining tight-lipped regarding further details surrounding the new series, and no release date has been announced for the series yet.

    Devil May Cry

Another announcement from last year has made it into announcements this year at Netflix Geeked Week, and last year’s very brief teaser has turned into a full-blown action trailer from Capcom and Director Adi Shankar. The trailer shows off the high octane action the action video games are known for, while keeping the main character Dante’s cheesy one-liners like “Jackpot!” intact. The series is set to launch in April 2025.

Tomb Raider : The Legend of Lara Croft

Haley Atwell serves as the voice of the iconic archaeologist Lara Croft in this new series coming to Netflix. Netflix Geeked Week rolled out the red carpet for video game adaptations and Tomb Raider was not left out. The new animated series aims to bridge the gap between the new Square Enix prequel titles, and the original Sony series released on the classic PlayStation . This long-awaited series launches on October 10, 2024.

That wraps all of the exciting anime announcements made so far this Netflix Geeked Week. It’s also worth mentioning Netflix has committed to another Cyberpunk 2077 animated series, but all fans know currently is that it will not be related to Edgerunners as a prequel or a sequel, and will tell a new story set in Night City with the same cyberpunk aesthetic . Fans can find all of these announcements and more Netflix Geeked Week announcements over on the official Tudum site .
