ELLWOOD CITY ― A man is in police custody following a fatal shooting at Ellwood City Forge Thursday evening.

According to reports from state police, the shooting occurred at the business at 6:39 p.m. when 31-year-old Timothy Woods, who witnesses identified as a former employee of the plant, entered the property from the woods behind the building. Witnesses said they told Woods he was not allowed to be at the building, but he told them he was looking for 36-year-old Tim Bollman as he entered the building.

Moments after entering the building, witnesses said they heard several shots fired. Security camera footage shows Woods leaving the scene after this, running past the guard station and away from the location. When police arrived at the scene, they found Bollman shot multiple times with a 9mm pistol.

    Police found suspect at home

Shortly after this, police received word that Woods was at a home on North Sewickley Township's Belton Road, threatening to kill himself. The caller reported Woods told them that he had just killed Bollman. As emergency services surrounded the building, Woods exited with his hands raised and was taken into police custody.

In their search of Woods' residence, police said they found a 9mm pistol with rounds that were consistent with those found at the scene of the crime. Police also reported that Woods had purchased the firearm in September 2021, but his concealed carry permit had expired earlier this month.

According to court documents, Woods has been charged with criminal homicide, carrying a firearm without a license and reckless endangerment. He is being held without bail in the Lawrence County Jail.

According to representatives from Ellwood City Forge, all other team members were confirmed safe, and the plant was secured after the incident. Their statement did not mention Woods allegedly was a former employee, instead referring to him as an "intruder."

Was the business responsible for the employees safety while at work ? I'm guessing firearms are not permitted on the property 🤔
