After PA police chase, emergency crews attempt rescue of motorcyclist from Delaware River

An emergency water rescue of a motorcyclist from the Delaware River near Riegelsville early Friday morning has been cleared, Pennsylvania State Police in Northampton County said Friday. The condition of the motorcyclist, however, remains unclear.

There were reports of a loud vehicle speeding through Riegelsville around 2 a.m. Friday. State police chased the motorcyclist, who then crashed and reportedly jumped from the Riegelsville Bridge.

Water rescue teams were reportedly dispatched shortly after.

Multiple fire departments responded, including the Holland Township and Milford companies of New Jersey, according to the Frenchtown (N.J.) Fire Department.

State police could initially see the motorcyclist in the water as emergency responders attempted to make contact with the victim.

State police declined to provide an update on the incident Friday morning. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
