Police: Man charged with killing girlfriend in Montgomery Village

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) said a man was charged with killing his girlfriend in Montgomery Village on Sept. 18.

MCPD said that at about 4:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 18600 block of Calypso Place and found a woman unconscious. Despite all life-saving efforts, she died there.

The victim was identified as 18-year-old Dania Cruz-Mejia.

Police said Cruz-Mejia’s family went to her home after not knowing where she was and found her unconscious.

Police said that through the investigation, they identified Cruz-Mejia’s boyfriend 22-year-old Gerber Luis Sanchez Centeno as the suspect.

MCPD arrested and charged Sanchez Centeno with the first-degree murder of Cruz-Mejia.

Sanchez Centeno was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit where he is being held without bond.

An autopsy will be conducted to officially determine the cause and manner of death.
