The landmark 50 th season of Saturday Night Live premieres Sept. 28, and the new season of the hit show will see the return of some beloved cast members as well as the addition of some new faces .
Saturday Night Live is no stranger to cast changes. Comedian Punkie Johnson , who joined the show in 2020, departed the series this year, as did Molly Kearny and Chloe Troast. Taking their place will be three new featured players, along with more than a dozen alumni.
Kenan Thompson
Kenan Thompson holds the crown for the most years spent as a part of Saturday Night Live , joining the cast of the American institution in 2003. This year, he'll be back for a record 21 st season.
Colin Jost
Weekend Update anchor and recent Olympic surfing commentator Colin Jost will be back at the table for another unforgettable season of the show. This year marks Jost's 10-year anniversary with SNL .
Michael Che
Jost's Weekend Update co-anchor is also back for another season, similarly celebrating his 10 years with the show this year. Jost and Che's co-hosting gig have made them the longest-running Weekend Update anchors in the show's half-century history.
Chloe Fineman joined the show in 2019 and is back for season 50.
Andrew Dismukes
Andrew Dismukes became a part of the SNL family in 2020 and is slated to return for season 50.
Sarah Sherman
Sarah Sherman joined SNL in 2021 and is back for her fourth season this year.
James Austin Johnson
James Austin Johnson, who launched his SNL career back in 2021, is back for his fourth season this year.
Devon Walker
Devon Walker did stand-up on Comedy Central in the early days of his career. He joined SNL in 2022 after working as a writer on the series Big Mouth and Everything Is Trash .
Michael Longfellow
Michael Longfellow was a rising comedy star prior to joining the show in 2022. This year, he's back for his third season.
Marcello Hernández made history as the show's first Gen Z cast member. This year marks his third season as a part of the show's cast.
Jane Wickline
Jane Wickline is one of three new featured players being added to the cast this year. She's toured as a sketch comedian, making for some useful experience going into the world's biggest sketch comedy show.
Emil Wakim
Emil Wakim is another new addition this year, but he's no stranger to comedy on TV, having made his first comedy appearance on The Tonight Show in 2022. He'll be making history as the show's first Lebanese American cast member.
Ashley Padilla
Ashley Padilla rounds out the group of newcomers. A Bay Area native, she's made appearances on Night Court and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
