JANESVILLE — At its meeting Tuesday, the Janesville School Board will hear the results of a staff engagement survey and approve updates to an administrative contract, according to an agenda posted Friday.

The agenda doesn’t specifically say which administrative contract is under consideration.

The meeting begins Tuesday at 6 p.m. or following the conclusion of a closed session that is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m., at the district office, 527 S. Franklin St.

    Staff engagement survey

The staff engagement survey conducted in April drew 1,072 respondents. Of those, 674 were certified staff, which includes teachers, counselors and social workers. Another 339 were non-certified staff members and 41 were administrators, which includes principals, assistant principals, coordinators and managers.

According to the slideshow, the survey was “kept confidential to provide employees a voice.” An email to the district to clarify how exactly the survey responses were kept confidential was not immediately returned Friday.

Answers were ranked on a five-point scale: strongly agree (5), agree (4), neutral (3), disagree (2) and strongly disagree (1). Among the average responses were:

I understand that my work directly contributes to the overall success of the district: 4.6At work I clearly understand what is expected of me: 4.5My principal/supervisor encourages support/collaboration within the department/school: 4.4My teammates have my back: 4.4I feel comfortable reporting safety concerns no matter how small: 4.4My work gives me a feeling of personal accomplishment: 4.4I am given the opportunity to be involved in decisions affecting me: 3.4.I am included and valued as a contributor to the school’s mission and culture: 3.8I am comfortable voicing my ideas and opinions even if they are different: 3.8I receive recognition from my principal/supervisor for excellent work: 3.8Our school/department regularly celebrates our successes: 4.0I receive information from the district level that is timely and relevant: 4.0

Another survey is slated to be done in April 2025.

Also on the agenda Tuesday are a summer school report, a superintendent’s update on the long range facilities plan and updates on August professional development and new teacher onboarding.
