The City of Olympia reports it will conduct a large-scale, multi-week cleanup of the trash in the Jungle encampment along Martin Way.

The cleanup is set to begin on Sep. 23 and is anticipated to take at least four weeks, according to city officials.

A section of eastbound Martin Way during that time will be reduced to one lane from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to accommodate the cleaning, the city reports further.

Drivers can expect delays or take an alternate route, city officials say.

No residents of the Jungle will be forced to leave during the scheduled cleanup, the city reports. All businesses, however, in the area will remain open, the city reports.
