Saturday morning, police announced that the child had died from injuries sustained in the shooting.

An investigation revealed that the incident occurred at home on Barrow Court.

According to police, the victim and another child were playing with an unsecured firearm in the master bedroom of the home when the shooting occurred.

It was later determined that Kunle Lawal Laguda Jr. was responsible for leaving the firearm in a place where children could reach it.

Laguda was then arrested and charged with unlawful neglect of a child for placing the children at unreasonable risk of physical harm and unlawful possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain crimes.

He is being held at the Rock Hill jail.
