What happens when Boomer meets Boomer? Spotting himself in a mirror for the first time, this tough little kitten got a bit hissy. One of the commenters called him a “spicy dust bunny,” and we see the resemblance! This tiny little fluff ball does have a bit of aggression.

Don’t worry, he achieved consciousness because of this, and he’s doing well.

When the kitten first saw the mirror, it stopped and stared at “that other kitty.” It only took a few seconds for the whiny-growl sound to begin. The owner, Jesse, speaks gently, trying to tell Boomer it’s his reflection. The message bounces off the little bundle of aggression. Ears laid back, this little warrior is ready for battle.

According to Jesse, Boomer achieved consciousness after this brief encounter and is fine. It is good news that the tiny fluff ball did not tear himself asunder in an attempt to quash his vicious opponent. Boomer has an older brother named Ozzie , who is a ginger tabby. Hopefully, with Ozzie’s guidance, this ferocious little warrior will grow into a kind and gentle kitten who can pass a mirror without going into battle mode.

Kittens argue with mirrors all the time. It is almost like a necessary rite of passage. Some react calmly, with subdued growling like Boomer. Others respond with extreme violence. Whether your cat responds with violence or playfulness , it is always amusing for humans to watch kittens during their first encounter with a mirror. This compilation video shows the many moods of tiny kittens interacting with themselves in mirrors.

Although most kittens eventually grow accustomed to seeing themselves in the mirror, some never do. Plenty of adult cats display aggression toward their mirror selves. Chalk this behavior trend up to “normal cat activity.”
