    Ingredients:

    For the crust:

    • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • 1 large egg
    • 2/3 cup of butter or margarine, softened
    • 3/4 cup water

    For the filling:

    • 1 can of apple pie filling (about 21 oz)
    • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    Instructions:

    1. Preheat your oven to 425°F.
    2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, egg, butter, and water. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth.
    3. Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch pie dish, spreading it evenly along the bottom.
    4. In a separate bowl, mix the apple pie filling with lemon juice and cinnamon. Spoon the apple mixture into the center of the batter, but avoid stirring it into the crust.
    5. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the crust is golden and set. Allow it to cool slightly before serving.

    Substitutions:

    • Swap the butter for coconut oil for a dairy-free version.
    • Use a gluten-free flour blend in place of all-purpose flour if you're avoiding gluten.
    • If you want a fresher filling, replace the canned apple pie filling with homemade filling using fresh apples, sugar, and a dash of nutmeg.

    Storage Tips:

Store leftover pie in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. To reheat, pop a slice in the microwave for about 30 seconds or warm in the oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes to revive the crispness of the crust.

This delightful dessert brings together the best of both worlds—minimal effort with maximum flavor. Enjoy!

If you're going to go to all the work of making your own crust, then make your own filling. It's really not that hard. In my opinion, it's easier to make the filling. Flaky pie crusts don't have egg in it.
