The Fall Equinox has arrived

The Roanoke Times reports that the 2024 Fall Equinox begins on Sunday, September 22, at 8:43 a.m. in Richmond, Virginia, and surrounding areas. This is the official beginning of Autumn, and celebrations are held across the state.

CNN reveals that Equinox is Latin for equinoxium, meaning “equality between day and night.” In Virginia, there will not be exactly equal 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night, as there will be in some locations around the world.

Fall Equinox traditions in Virginia

In Great Britain, harvest festivals have been associated with the fall equinox since pagan times. In 2024, harvest festivals will also be held in Virginia. Virginia is for Lovers lists several 2024 Fall Festivals that can be enjoyed in September and October.
