NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) — Two more veterans were honored with free home repairs in New Britain and Manchester Saturday, courtesy of the House of Heroes Connecticut.

Since their founding in 2012, House of Heroes CT has helped 244 veterans with no-cost home repairs.

Thirty-five volunteers showed up at 8:00 a.m. in New Britain to help and they all had a similar mission to Kathy Morin when they arrived.

Morin, an employee at PCX Aerosystems in Newington, told News 8, “We’re here today to make a difference and hopefully, by the end of the day, we will have done that.”

Michael Lockery, a New Britain native, served with the Marine Corps in Okinawa and the Philippines. He heard about the program from his wife who saw a segment about House of Heroes on television.

When asked his feelings on what was happening to his house, Lockery said, “When you have your own house and, of course, you want all the best upkeep and that. And once in a while life bites you. But these guys are here to come and help out and move you a step ahead. I really appreciate it.”
