UNC Coach Mack Brown Offers To Take Drastic Action After Embarrassing 70-50 Loss

North Carolina could be looking for a new head coach following their 70-50 loss at home to James Madison.

Adam Smith of 24/7 Sports reported that Brown told the locker room he would resign after Saturday's loss.

"An emotional coach Mack Brown told the North Carolina football team that he was walking away from the job after the Tar Heels' embarrassing 70-50 loss to James Madison on Saturday at Kenan Stadium, multiple sources close to the situation have told Inside Carolina," the report read.

The players were reportedly quick to show support for their coach and took the blame themselves for the disappointing loss to the Dukes.

In the same report, another source insisted Brown would remain as the Tar Heels head coach.

" He will be in the office tomorrow and getting back to work," that source told 24/7 Sports. "Going in and having a normal Sunday."

Additional sources close to the matter reportedly told Smith that the program is in a state of "flux" following Brown's address to the team after the game.

UNC came into the game 11-point favorites over James Madison, per the Action Network. After the upset, UNC drops to 3-1 on the season.

Brown, at 73, is in his second stint as the head coach of UNC. He's 110-74-1 all-time at UNC. He's 285-150-1 all-time as a college head coach. He won the national championship as a head coach at Texas for the 2005 season.
