LIVINGSTON COUNTY — This is your annual reminder: It's time to shop for Halloween costumes.

Fortunately, two pop-up Halloween stores have opened in Brighton and Howell, and will remain open through early November.

Spirit Halloween at 8101 Movie Drive in Brighton and 3613 E. Grand River Ave. in Howell are two of more than 1,500 of the company's pop-up locations open across America. This year, the stores have a “carnevil” theme with cemetery-inspired store designs, animatronics and other decorations, costumes and more.

Spirit Halloween is the largest Halloween retailer in North America. It's operated seasonal stores for more than 40 years, providing costumes and accessories for infants, toddlers, children, teens and adults. The store in Brighton is located in the former MC Sports. In Howell, the store is situated between Dunham’s Sports and Big Lots. Most of the pop-up stores employ about 20 seasonal, mainly part-time workers, Balles said. Some part-time opportunities are still available at both stores. Both stores are open 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Sundays.

Looking for other shopping opportunities? Party City at 8057 Challis Road in Brighton also offers an assortment of decorations and costumes.
