It’s like the opposite of HGTV’s Million Dollar Contractor .

A Tempe man is accused of stealing bathroom makeover materials from a residential construction site in Maricopa for an ultra-low-budget remodel of his own lavatory.

Maricopa Police Department on Tuesday charged Francisco Ivan Yanez-Miranda, 40, in two separate felony theft cases, according to probable cause statements obtained by InMaricopa .

Officers first responded to La Paz Street in Rancho Mirage Sept. 12 after a Meritage Homes rep said Yanez-Miranda stole $2,500 worth of shower supplies from the construction site. He reportedly made a getaway in his truck before the cops showed up.

Yanez-Miranda returned to the neighborhood five days later, this time at a jobsite on San Clemente Street, according to the police report, and allegedly stole more construction materials valued at $1,200.

Police found Yanez-Miranda and his truck near Honeycutt and White and Parker Roads where he admitted to both heists. He told police he swiped the supplies, still in their original packaging, out of dumpsters.

A Meritage Homes spokesperson said all the stolen materials were intended to be used and should not have been in the trash for any reason.

Yanez-Miranda was arrested and booked into the Pinal County jail that day. He faces more than seven years in prison.
