Cat Rambo to give reading at Barnes & Noble from latest book in 'Disco Space Opera' series

SOUTH BEND — Local author Cat Rambo will give a reading from their new book, “Rumor Has It,” at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at Barnes & Noble in University Park Mall, 6501 Grape Road.

Set for release Sept. 24 and published by Tor MacMillan, the book’s the third in Rambo’s “Disco Space Opera” series, following 2021’s “You Sexy Thing” and 2023’s “Devil’s Gun.”

As the book begins, the crew of the You Sexy Thing have laid a course for Coralind Station, hoping the station's famed gardens will provide an opportunity to regroup, recoup and mourn their losses while finding a way to track down their enemy, pirate king Tubal Last.

All Captain Niko Larsen wants to do is pry their insurance money from the bank and see if an old friend might be able to help them find Last. Unfortunately, old friends and enemies aren’t the only unreliable elements awaiting her and the crew at Coralind.

Each will have to face themselves — the good and the bad — in order to come together before they lose everything.

The South Bend-based Rambo graduated from the Johns Hopkins Writing Seminars and also attended the Clarion West Writers’ Workshop.

Their work has appeared in, among others, Asimov’s, Weird Tales, Chiaroscuro, Talebones and Strange Horizons.

Rambo is currently the managing editor of Fantasy Magazine and also teaches live and virtual writing classes through their The Rambo Academy for Wayward Writers.
