Impairment suspected in crash that hospitalized 2 people: OSHP

POLAND TWP., Ohio (WKBN) — The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports two people were transported to the hospital after a one-vehicle crash Saturday night.

The crash took place just before 11 p.m. Saturday on state Route 170 near Sheridan Road. OSHP reports the driver was heading southbound when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and hit a utility pole.

The driver was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash and was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with minor injuries.

A passenger of the car was also unbelted at the time of the crash and was taken to the same hospital with life-threatening injuries after his head struck the windshield, according to OSHP. According to an early Sunday morning media release, the passenger is in stable condition.

OSHP says alcohol and marijuana appear to be a contributing factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

The patrol reminds everyone to always wear their seatbelts and contact a designated driver if impaired.

Actually I’ve witnessed that the weed out here today puts people to sleep 💤 smh 🤦🏽‍♀️ what the H E double hockey sticks is that about? Back in the day when we used it we were laughing and cleaning up the house and having fun 🤩 why would I buy something that puts me to sleep? That’s just a waste of money as far as I’m concerned. It would be a whole lot cheaper to just buy a bottle of no doze or whatever they call it lol 😆
