Thomas Donlon is being investigated by federal authorities just days after beginning his job as interim police commissioner. Donlon released the following statement: “On Friday, September 20, federal authorities executed search warrants at my residences. They took materials that came into my possession approximately 20 years ago and are unrelated to my work with the New York City Police Department." He also stated that “this is not a department matter, and the department will not be commenting.” The FBI raid comes less than two weeks after the previous police commissioner, Edward Caban,
resigned amid a federal corruption investigation. City Hall’s chief legal counsel, Lisa Zornberg, also stepped down last week. Donlon says the probe is not related to the other federal investigations into city hall. News 12 received the following comment from the mayor's office: “As we have repeatedly said, we expect all team members to fully comply with any law enforcement inquiry.” "
