INDIANAPOLIS — You probably heard about last weekend’s violent street takeovers across Indianapolis. Those days are over, say Indianapolis Metro Police.

So far this weekend, IMPD has made some arrests, and some cars have been impounded in apparent street takeovers. IMPD are light on the details for now because they plan to be back out on the streets this weekend, alongside Indiana State Police.

IMPD did confirmed one gun was taken from a person who isn’t allowed to have a gun.

Last weekend, IMPD and State Police encountered dozens of cars and hundreds of people all across Indianapolis streets. When police tried to clear the area, they say dozens of people showered their officers with bottles, rocks, street signs and traffic cones, and some even took baseball bats to patrol car windshields.

IMPD Chief Chris Bailey held a press conference later in the week to express his frustration and warn people to not get in the way of his officers.

Around ten people were arrested in last weekend’s street takeovers and police are still looking for more involved.

This article will be updated as more information is made available.

Thank goodness you are taking their cars and arresting them. They need to know this is not acceptable in Indiana. Hope they don’t get their cars back
