Oktoberfest coming to Wellen Park

WELLEN PARK — A new community is hosting an old tradition next weekend.

Wellen Park announced it is hosting its inaugural Oktoberfest in Downtown Wellen on Sept. 28.

“Celebrate the spirit of Oktoberfest with beer brats, schnitzel, pretzels, polka, and time-honored Bavarian traditions and food options,” it stated in a news release. “Oktoberfest will also feature dancers, a live polka band, a stein-hosting competition and entertainment on the Solis Hall stage throughout the day.”

The entertainment starts at noon with music. German dancers take the stage from 2-4 p.m. then the DeLeon Oktoberfest Band performs its “all-out polka” from 4 to 8 p.m

“The lively family festival-style ensemble includes three generations of accordionists and has performed at Florida’s biggest Oktoberfest events,” it stated.

The day will also include a stein-hoisting competition.
