Browns Trading for Giants RB to Replace Chubb?

    By Mike Fisher,

SEPT 22 TRADE? Are the Cleveland Browns trading for Devin Singletary, who they happen to be playing against today with the New York Giants coming to town?

That's what ESPN is suggesting in an "insider'' report that, as it turns out, is simply guesswork on the part of the reporter ... guesswork that even suggests that such a move might be needed because of an injury absence of Nick Chubb that might last longer than anyone in Cleveland is letting on.

But the "report'' - while making this specific connection with Singletary - also simply loads up on headline-grabbing names like "Amari Cooper'' and "Dallas Cowboys'' and smushing them together in a manner that creates the loose impression to the reader that there are really connections and real sources involved here.

In the end, this appears to be one guy's guess about all the cool trades that could happen near the NFL’s November 5 trade deadline. ... and nothing more than that.

SEPT 21 WHO'S QB? The Browns will be keeping an eye on what's happening in Pittsburgh as the Steelers host the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday in NFL Week 2.

The 1-1 Browns host the Giants and are favored. The Steelers are undefeated ... as are the Chargers. But Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is listed as questionable for Sunday with a high ankle sprain, and the team is saying he will likely be a game-time decision.

So ... Easton Stick? Or Taylor Heinicke? That would be a break for the Steelers ... and a thumbs-down from Cleveland.

SEPT 20 ANNOYED Who's the most annoying player in the NFL? Patrick Mahomes often makes these fan-survey lists simply because non-Chiefs fans are sick of losing to him. But in a recent fan survey by The Action Network, a new Kansas City star is rising to the top: Travis Kelce.

Maybe the audience is suffering from Kelce Overkill because of his high-profile relationship with pop star Taylor Swift? Oh, and the fact that as with Super Bowl buddy Mahomes, the audience is, again, sick of watching him win.

Kelce, though, came in only second with 17 percent of the votes. The big "winner''? Jets QB Aaron Rodgers, the four-time MVP who loves to embroil himself in controversy, corralled 27 percent of the vote to capture the "honor" of Most Annoying Player.

SEPT 19 FIRST LOOK Running back Isiah Pacheco is hurt and out for the Kansas City Chiefs, so they signed Kareem Hunt to their practice squad. And as of Thursday, Hunt - the ex-Browns runner - is in uniform and in practice. ... and we have a first look.

Now wearing 28, Hunt attended his first Chiefs' practice in over five years. ... and here he is at work ... and catching passes and returns.

While he's currently only signed to the practice squad, Hunt figures to get the call-up soon enough.

Jaylen Warren of the Steelers. They forgot about him this year. They apparently don't need his talents as they are 3-0! Could probably get a few 1st round picks for him knowing the Browns!
