Drivers heading from southbound Highway 41 to eastbound Highway 46 near Cholame will encounter a detour next week, according to a Caltrans news release.

From Monday, Sept. 23, through Friday, Sept. 27, southbound drivers on Highway 41 attempting to turn onto Highway 46 East toward Bakersfield will be redirected onto westbound Highway 46 toward Paso Robles for about one mile, before they can turn around and continue east again.

Traffic signs will be in place to help direct drivers.

The temporary detour is part of Caltrans’ expansion of the two-lane highway into a four-lane expressway at the “Y” interchange.
