    PREP ROUNDUP: County Golfers Compete In District Championship

    JONESBOROUGH — The Chuckey-Doak, South Greene, North Greene and West Greene golf teams competed in the District 1-A golf championship on Friday at The Crossings Golf Club in Jonesborough.

    Chuckey-Doak

    The Lady Knights won the district championship with a 172.

    Chuckey-Doak was led by medalist Layla Fox, who shot a 77. Kyleigh Crawford also medaled, taking fifth with a 95, and Harley Thompson shot a 109.

    Chuckey-Doak’s Avery Armstrong also qualified for regionals with a 91 as the Knights turned in a team total 400. Kaleb Blankenship shot a 93, Gavin Murray shot a 98, Ty Shelton shot a 118 and Dakine Thompson shot a 122.

    South Greene

    The Rebels took second with a team total 348, qualifying for regionals. Kolben Gregg finished second individually with a 74. Benji Conner finished with an 85, Colby Brooks shot a 93, Cameron Kinser shot a 97 and Luke Roberts finished with a 111.

    West Greene

    The Buffaloes took third with a 370, qualifying for regionals. Conner Campbell earned a fifth place medal with an 82. Keatton Potter shot an 89 followed by Aiden Willett’s 99, Eli Brown’s 100 and Peyton Shelton’s 104.

    North Greene

    The Lady Huskies’ Kallie Dobson qualified for regionals with a 120.

    Ethan Dilks led North Greene’s boys with a 92 followed by Isaac Gaby with a 96, Tyler Britton with a 97, Lawson Davenport with a 115 and Brady Malone with a 147.

    VOLLEYBALL Chuckey-Doak 3 Heritage 0

    AFTON — Chuckey-Doak swept Heritage 25-20, 25-23, 25-21 at home on Saturday.

    Chuckey-Doak’s Jacey Taylor had 13 kills, 11 digs and two aces; Cristen Bishop had 11 digs and two assists; and Addy Pruitt had 14 assists, six digs, four aces, three kills and two blocks.

    Chloe Kirkpatrick had 13 assists and two digs; Isabelle Karriker had eight blocks, six kills and two digs; and Macy Cox had four blocks, three kills, three digs and two aces.

    Chuckey-Doak, now 12-3, will host Johnson County at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

    CROSS COUNTRY Greeneville

    KNOXVILLE — The Greeneville Greene Devils finished seventh out of 36 teams in the Cherokee Classic on Saturday, while the Lady Devils finished 15th.

    Greeneville’s Trey Bailey took third place with a time of 16:16.40. Isaac Gibson was 29th with a 17:30.91 and Grant Tunnell was 37th with a 17:41.66. Jules Richard was 47th, Kaden Savant was 114th, Cole Englehardt was 121st and McCormick Cutshall was 219th.

    The Lady Devils’ Darla Kammerdiener finished 65th with a 23:02.80. Riley Castro was 90th with a 23:41.31 and Cate Oakes was 101st with a 24:07.56. Susan Mulhollen was 106th, Annika Vines was 109th, Tristen Douthat was 143rd, Aley White was 176th and Jesslyn Fox was 264th.
