GEORGETOWN – The County Seat Cruisers’ annual effort to raise breast cancer awareness and support for patients in need will be held Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Georgetown Historical Society Museum Complex.

Last year the eighth Georgetown Breast Cancer Awareness Car, Truck, Motorcycle and Tractor Show raised about $22,000.

“So far, they have raised over $77,000 since it started,” said Connie Holdridge, DBCC Program Director for Sussex County.

The event, facilitated by Levin Clark and supporters, will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It includes a craft fair, swap meet, food a bar, vendors, a 50/50 raffle, face painting for children, Touch a Truck, Shore Boyz Mobile Railroad Exhibit and a vehicle auction.

Back by popular demand is the band Sticky Situation.

A separate auction for gift certificates and donated items will be led by auctioneer Dave Wilson.

Raffles in the works for a Yeti cooler and two tickets to Philadelphia Eagles game.

More than 60 trophies will be given out in nearly two dozen categories. In addition, there are monetary awards for Best of Show Antique Cars, Best of Show Never Cars, Farthest Distance, Best of Show Motorcycle and best of Show Tractor. Show entrants will receive goodie bags and the first 125 registrations receive dash plaques.

While efforts to land a former NASCAR star were unsuccessful, Mr. Clark said it appears that World of Outlaws/Lucas Oiler Series star Rick Eckert will attend and may bring his race car.

The show’s two premier sponsors are Melvin Joseph Construction and Preston Automotive Group, with about a dozen and a half supporting sponsors.

Proceeds will support the coalition’s efforts in Sussex County.

“We do support services. We have a whole team that gets people to get their mammograms, and transport them and interprets for them. We also give financial aid to people that need it,” said Ms. Holdridge. “Last year the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition gave out $172,000 in financial aid to breast cancer patients who during their journey have to stop working because they are having chemo, and that paycheck is not coming in. We’ll pay mortgage or rent, gas or electric, things like that, and food cards.”

“And I made an agreement, that the money stays in Sussex County, to take care of our people here,” said Mr. Clark.

“We’ve got enough need here in Sussex County,” Ms. Holdridge said.

“So, let’s go and have a good time and raise some money for the Breast Cancer Coalition again this year,” said Mr. Clark.
