Comparing Texas QB Arch Manning's Statistics to Top QB's from the 2023 Recruiting Class

Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning has been as good as advertised so far in the 2024 season. Manning has shined in relief of injured starting quarterback Quinn Ewers in back-to-back appearances.

After a significant sample size of game reps against UTSA , Manning received his first collegiate starting opportunity against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks . He made the most of it, throwing for 258 yards and two touchdowns.

Some questioned whether or not Manning was truly a top quarterback in the 2023 recruiting class after ranking as the cycle's No. 1 quarterback by 247Sports. The second-year player is removing all doubt in regard to his five-star rating this season.

In three appearances, Manning has completed 61.7% of passing attempts for 576 yards, seven touchdowns, two interceptions and 12.3 yards per attempt. He has added a 67-yard rushing touchdown on the ground.

The third-generation star player from the Manning football tree was once compared to former five-star quarterback Jackson Arnold. The Oklahoma Sooners quarterback hasn't had the same caliber year as Manning to this point.

Arnold, the No. 4 quarterback in 247Sports' recruiting rankings for 2023, is completing 59.8% of his passing attempts for 538 yards with seven touchdowns, three interceptions and 5.3 yards per attempt.

Among other 2023 quarterbacks, Tennessee Volunteers ' second-year quarterback Nico Iamaleava is off to a strong start in 2024. 247Sports' No. 2 quarterback in the 2023 cycle is completing 69.3% of passing attempts with 892 yards, seven touchdowns, two interceptions and 10.1 yards per attempt.

Fellow Top 5 quarterbacks in the 2023 recruiting class in Dante Moore ( Oregon ) and Malachi Nelson ( Boise State ) have only played sparingly in 2024. Even so, the top two quarterbacks in the class are living up to their five-star billing.

Manning and the Texas Longhorns will look to stay undefeated when they host the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Week 5.
