Pittsfield police warn residents of aggressive door-to-door sales tactics

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Pittsfield Police Department has issued a warning to residents regarding recent reports of individuals using aggressive tactics while going door-to-door, primarily attempting to sell solar products.

According to witnesses, these solicitors have been persistent, refusing to take “no” for an answer. The police remind the public that anyone conducting door-to-door sales within city limits must possess a state-issued Hawkers and Peddlers license and a permit for Soliciting and Canvassing issued by the Pittsfield Police Department.

The individuals must visibly display these permits. Those found operating without the proper permits may face fines or revoke their permits.

Residents are encouraged to contact the Pittsfield Police Department’s non-emergency number at 413-448-9700 if they encounter any suspicious or unlicensed solicitors. Police ask that complaints be reported as soon as possible to help authorities investigate and take action promptly.
