A 19-year-old accused of shooting an 18-year-old in the head outside of McDonald’s has turned himself in to police, according to the Rock Hill Police Department.

Jerrique Tavrone Markez Dunham turned himself in Sunday for the shooting on Aug. 25 along Cherry Road. At the scene, police found the victim, Benjamin Brown, with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to an area hospital and was listed as being in critical condition, according to police.

An initial investigation revealed that the 18-year-old was talking to some people inside a gray midsized SUV when someone in that vehicle shot him. The people in that SUV then left the scene, according to police.

Police said last month that they believe Brown was trying to sell a gun, which is why he met with the people in the SUV.

“According to witness statements and video, Jerrique took Brown’s gun after he showed it to them for the purchase and shot Brown in the face,” said Taylor Englert with Rock Hill police. “Jamison knowingly assisted Jerrique in fleeing the scene by driving the getaway vehicle.”

Dunham, 19, was arrested on attempted murder and possession of a weapon charges. His brother, 20-year-old Jameson Larone Dunham of Chester, was arrested just after the shooting and charged with accessory after the fact.

Jerrique Dunham was also served two warrants for a shooting where he was identified as the suspect who fired a gun into two different homes.
