Construction Near Belmar Elementary to Affect Arrival and Dismissal Routes Next Week

BELMAR, NJ — Superintendent Jimmy Alvarez of Belmar Elementary School has issued an important notice regarding upcoming construction near the school, set to begin the week of September 23, 2024. The construction and excavation work, located at 1200 Main St. near Hazel Boutique and caddy-corner to the school, will result in sidewalk closures and adjusted traffic routes.

Both sidewalks on 1200 Main St. will be closed during the work, and families are advised to use alternate routes for student drop-offs and pick-ups. Trucking activity will pause during peak school hours, with operations ceasing between 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM for morning arrivals and finishing by 2:30 PM to avoid disruptions during afternoon dismissals.

Superintendent Alvarez has encouraged families coming from south of 12th Avenue to use the crosswalk at Main Street and 13th Avenue for safe passage and to allow extra time during these busy periods. The school will monitor the situation closely and provide ongoing updates as needed.
