RICHLAND, Wash. - The roof of a facility building on the campus of Hanford High School caved in Sunday afternoon after the building caught fire again.

The call for help went out around 3:20 p.m. after smoke and flames could be seen coming from the building.

Fire crews from Richland responded to the scene within minutes and it wasn't long after the roof of the building caved in. Firefighters went to work putting out the blaze and a ladder truck was used to attack the fire from above.

The building first caught fire just before 2 a.m. Saturday . School officials said while the cause of the first fire is under investigation, preliminary reports indicated there was an electrical problem that may have led to the fire.

As for the second fire, school officials reported upon talking with firefighters, it appears the fire may have reignited due to a hotspot from the original fire. Fire crews remained at the scene for a few hours Sunday to make sure any remaining fire was put out. School officials said the building will continue to be barricaded off until further notice.

The cost of the damage and what was all inside has not yet been released.

One would think that even a cheap infrared camera would reveal possible hotspots. Maybe this was some sneaky kind. 🤷‍♂️
