Maxx Crosby Makes Injury Announcement After Week 3 Loss

The Las Vegas Raiders suffered a brutal loss on Sunday. Despite being favorites heading into the game, Las Vegas looked out of sorts as they were thrashed by the lowly Carolina Panthers .

The defense played rather terribly during the loss, and part of the reason for that was due to their complete lack of a pass rush. Andy Dalton had all day to sit in the pocket and throw, and he did exactly that, throwing for 319 yards and three touchdowns.

When edge rusher Maxx Crosby is healthy, opposing quarterbacks usually don't have that kind of time. He's not completely healthy at the moment, though, as he stated after the Raiders' loss.

This isn't necessarily a new injury, as Crosby was limited this week in practice after initially being injured in Las Vegas' Week 2 win. However, this could make the Raiders' situation much, much worse.

Las Vegas has already lost Malcolm Koonce for the year , and their 2023 first round draft pick, Tyree Wilson, hasn't done much of anything. With Koonce out and Crosby hindered, things do not look good for the defensive line.

Making things worse, the Raiders' secondary was ripped open on Saturday as well. If you can't get a pass rush, you'd have to hope your secondary can hold up a bit longer than usual. That clearly wasn't the case on Sunday.

The Raiders are going to need to figure out how to develop a pass rush with Crosby injured sooner rather than later. Knowing Mad Maxx, he'll insist on playing, but he's clearly not able to do as much as he can when healthy. Las Vegas needs to find somebody else who can get in the backfield.
