Good morning everyone. Clouds have returned to the Northeast as our next front will linger over the next few days, and bring us some much needed rain to parts of the area. Light to moderate rain and a few rumbles of thunder are heading through central parts of New York and Pennsylvania, which desperately need it.

That rain will try and make it to parts of New Jersey and NYC/Long Island, but it might fizzle out into some scattered showers or even nothing at all. A better chance of a few showers looks to be on Wednesday and Thursday before sunshine returns on Friday.

The front responsible for rain in the Northeast, stretches all the way back into Texas. Along it, we are seeing areas of heavy showers and thunderstorms. Some of these areas are also in need of soaking rains, and they will get it. Areas of rain and rumbles stretch from northeast and central Texas, into southeast Oklahoma, then into Missouri and central/lower Illinois.

Unfortunately, there will be a severe weather component to this as the day wears on. Look for this energy across the mentioned areas to set off some embedded severe thunderstorms, especially in parts of Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana. We could also see some locally severe weather in the Ohio River Valley. Expect locally damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, and torrential rain.

In the long range we continue to watch for tropical energy entering the Gulf and heading into the Southeast. This could potentially bring some big rains to upper Georgia and eastern Tennesse. We could also see some flooding issues out of this since it'll likely be "too much" rain.

Here is your local NYC Metro forecast -

The clouds are here to stay for several days and we could see a few scattered light showers today. Highs in the low 70's. The same goes for tomorrow, with more low 70's as well.

On Wednesday, clouds lower and thicken for a better chances of some showers. Highs will be a muggy low to mid 70's. Look for more muggy mid 70's on Thursday, with more scattered showers possible.

Sunshine returns on Friday for a dry day in the mid 70's once again.
