Justin Fields accomplishes feat with Steelers that he never did with Bears

The Pittsburgh Steelers are off to a 3-0 start to the 2024 campaign after a 20-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3. Pittsburgh has accomplished that feat with Justin Fields under center as Russell Wilson continues to work his way back from a calf injury.

The 3-0 start is the Steelers' first since 2020 , and it's the fourth of the Mike Tomlin era. The other 3-0 starts came in 2007 and 2010, and Pittsburgh went on to win the AFC North in each of those three campaigns.

After Sunday's win, Fields accomplished something he never did with the Bears, which is winning three games in a row, something "Good Morning Football" host Kyle Brandt pointed out on Monday (H/T Jeremy Reisman, Pride of Detroit ).

A big difference between his stint with the Bears as opposed to the Steelers is that Pittsburgh has an elite defense to support him, whereas Chicago did not. The Bears' defense only started coming on strong at the tail end of Fields' tenure.

Fields had his best game of the 2024 campaign on Sunday, tallying season-highs in passing yards (245) and total touchdowns (two). Pittsburgh's offense as a whole had its best showing of the young season, also.

"Just overall, seeing the field. I feel like I'm just very calm out there," Fields said after the game . "Cool, calm and collected on the field and really just that sense of peace out there on the field and not really rushing things internally in my brain. Just staying calm in the pocket and making plays when I can and just doing my job."

As a result of his strong showing in Week 3, Fields might have done enough to keep the starting job even when Wilson is healthy enough to play. We'll see if that's the case over the course of the week, assuming Wilson is finally fully recovered.
