Mom of missing Jessica Barnes, 20, insists final text ‘wasn’t from her’ as search ramps up 54 days after she vanished

A MOM is desperately searching for her daughter who vanished a month ago and she’s even more worried after getting a strange text from her phone.
It’s been 54 days since Jessica Barnes, 20, was last seen at her home in Pendleton, South Carolina, roughly two hours northeast of Atlanta, Georgia.

Though she hasn’t been spotted since August 1, she wasn’t reported missing until September 10.
Her mom, Cecilia Varvara, raised the alarm and called cops about her disappearance.
The worried mom said she got a message from Barnes on the day she reported her missing but she doesn’t believe it was actually from her because of how it was written.
It’s unclear what the text said.
Barnes and her husband hit a bumpy patch in their marriage around the time of her disappearance, Pendleton police Chief Robert Crosby told local NBC affiliate WYFF .
“There was some issues with her and her husband,” the police chief said.
“They were having the typical marital disputes, argumentative, and then, she just left.”
Barnes didn’t tell her husband or two roommates where she was heading before she left, according to Crosby.
Few details about the case have been released but Crosby said Barnes’ husband is not a suspect in her disappearance at this time.
The U.S. Sun reached out to the Pendleton Police Department for an update on Monday.
Varvara, meanwhile, has issued an emotional plea for her daughter to come home.
“If you see this, know that you are loved,” Varvara said through tears in an interview with WYFF.
“And we’re waiting for you to give me a phone call as soon as you get this.
“Know that your father and your siblings are worried and I’m worried about you and your safety.”
The U.S. Sun has also reached out to Varvara for comment.
SEARCH RAMPS UP
On Thursday, cops searched the woods near the Twin Lakes Boat Ramp, where a vehicle Varvara drove regularly before her disappearance pinged.
Later on Thursday, the community held a prayer vigil for the missing woman.
Then, on Friday, cops searched her home.
The 20-year-old was last seen wearing an orange T-shirt, jean shorts, flip-flops, and a black backpack.

“She likes to write songs and everything. She’s very bubbly and smart.”
