Checking out the sights

The Le Champlain returned to Bayfield Sept. 20 after stopping for a visit earlier this month. Gary Jackson of Ironwood was visiting Bayfield and captured photos of passengers on the way to shore. The cruise ship made a stop in the Chequamegon Bay so those aboard could shop and see what Bayfield has to offer. Le Champlain is the second ship of the Explorers class of cruise ships operated by Ponant, according to its website. Each member of the class is named after a famous French explorer, and Le Champlain is named after Samuel de Champlain, “The Father of New France”.
