Amtrak Ending Capitol Limited Train in West Virginia

MARTINSBURG, WV - Amtrak has plans to cancel its Capitol Limited train and combine it with the Silver Star starting in November.

According to the booking feature on Amtrak's website, the Capitol Limited and Silver Star trains will be combined as a new train, called the Floridian 40 and 41.

The routes will remain the same, but instead of the Capitol Limited running from Chicago, IL to Washington, D.C. the train will now run all the way to Miami along the current Silve Star route, according to the Amtrak booking feature.

The planned consist of the train is currently unknown at this time.

Residents who board the Capitol Limited in Martinsburg and Harpers Ferry will still be able to board as normal as the stops will remain the same.

According to the Amtrak booking feature, the first run of the new trains will be on Sunday, November 10, 2024.
